Isle of Wight

Images from the Isle of Wight.

I love the sea. In one sense this is strange because I don't sail or surf and I can't even swim, in fact, if water is too deep to bath in, I would rather not go in it at all. As an Englishman, I am part of an island race that for many centuries has looked to the sea for nourishment, commerce and protection, and perhaps it is because of this that I can happily spend hours just sitting and watching it, in all its moods, from a cliff or a beach. Whatever the reason, I love the sea.

Because of this, I have taken to visiting the Isle of Wight each year for a week (plus the odd day trip). It is not far for me to travel, less than an hour’s drive to the nearest ferry terminal, but crossing the Solent to get to the island makes it seem longer. While I am there I always feel as though I am further away from home than I really am.

Here are a few of the pictures that I have made on the island over the last year or so.
